[edit] Plot
We’re introduced to Benjamin Katz, Danielle’s son, as he, Danielle, and Danielle’s husband drive towards Wisteria Lane. Meanwhile, Orson and Bree discuss the return as Danielle, Benji, and Leo arrive. Benji isn’t sure he remembers Orson. Bree reacts when Benji calls his own mother Danielle. Danielle tells Bree that Benji will call Bree “Granny.”
Mary Alice talks about bullies as we see them on the playground. MJ goes inside to his mother. Susan sees his face is scratched, for the second time that week. She wonders which boy is responsible, but he wants to talk to Daddy. Gabrielle and Carlos show their car to a Middle Eastern couple who want the car priced even lower, given a ding in the bumper. Carlos makes a deal with them even as Gabrielle thinks they’ve gone too low. Gaby wants to keep the car but Carlos reminds her they need to pay the mortgage. Gaby learns the car is for the couple’s nanny. Mrs. McCluskey learns Katherine hasn’t found anything on Dave, as Dave Williams is a familiar name. When Dave rides by in his bike, Mrs. McCluskey tries and fails to get any info out of him. Katherine thinks the man’s nice, even as Mrs. McCluskey can feel the man is bad news. Dave sees Tom’s cleaning out the garage. He invites Tom to watch a game on the TV in a few hours, but Tom’s stuck working in the garage. Lynette notes Tom has a huge pile of stuff from the garage he’s still keeping. She wants Tom to toss more stuff. Dave notes Tom’s bass and learns Tom used to jam. Dave plays the drums and would love to jam some time. Dave rides his bike past Mrs. McCluskey and waves to her.
Edie joins Katherine and Mrs. McCluskey after lunch. Even though Mrs. McCluskey agreed to be subtle when questioning Edie, Mrs. McCluskey is more forceful and learns Edie doesn’t know where Dave grew up. More questions lead to more revelations that Edie doesn’t know things about Dave. Andrew shows Gabrielle and Carlos the car he’s selling them. Carlos wants to buy it but Gabrielle’s not sure. Andrew points out it’s a lousy car but he still won’t lower the price, even as she says she’ll walk away. He won’t even drop 100 dollars off the price. She gives in. Orson’s played checkers with Benji. Bree learns from Danielle that the Katzes are vegetarians, and Bree doesn’t care for this. Bree doesn’t like Danielle’s “nutty liberal politics.” She fears Benji will be teased at school, then learns Danielle is homeschooling him. Danielle tells Bree that she’s his mother and gets to decide. Oh, and Benjamin’s having a bar mitzvah soon. Lynette finds Tom and Dave who are going to have a garage band with Orson and Mike. Tom thinks they can even get a couple of gigs. Lynette reminds Tom that he’s running a restaurant and being a husband and dad. Tom says Lynette can’t decide for him and he plays his bass.
Gabrielle’s in her car with her kids fighting in the back seat. The car’s breaking down and smoke is coming out. Gabrielle confronts Andrew for selling her a lemon with a bad radiator. He tells her how to handle it but she insists he pays for the radiator. Gaby wants to talk to Bree by the end of the day. Mike tells Susan MJ wouldn’t reveal who’s bullying him. Mike wants to teach him to fight; Jackson suggests a Brazilian dancing fight. Susan sees Juanita push MJ outside and goes to send Juanita away. MJ admits Juanita is bullying him as Juanita goes home. Mike tells Susan he can’t teach MJ to hit a girl and Jackson backs Mike up on this. Susan tells Gabrielle about the problem. Susan suggests Juanita is fat; Gabrielle thinks MJ is a wuss. They snap at each other. At the park, Ben looks at pictures of Danielle with Bree, and learns Danielle ate hot dogs as a child. Bree tells Benji that eating things like hot dogs make kids get big. Perhaps Danielle’s afraid he’ll get too big too fast. Bree has a hot dog for Benji to eat and gives it to him; he promises not to tell his mother. He thinks the hot dog’s like tofu, only better.
Tom and Dave practice while Lynette realizes, after 3 hours, that this phase of Tom’s is not passing fast enough. When Penny almost broke the guitar, Lynette decided to use this for her own uses; she made sure the guitar got destroyed, even as Tom was horrified. Susan gave MJ a whistle in case Juanita came by again. When she hears the whistle, she goes after Juanita, who’s taken the whistle from MJ. She’s mad Juanita would push MJ down. Susan makes her point by pushing Juanita down, then apologizes. Gabrielle confronted Susan over what happened. The two argue and are rude about each others’ kids. Gabrielle pushes Susan, who tries to take the high road--but another comment from Gabrielle has Susan catfighting with Gaby. Dave knocks on Lynette’s door. He comes in; he’s heard about the accident and has bought Tom a guitar. Lynette doesn’t want to accept it. Dave says he thinks Tom needs the fun. He suggests Tom’s having a midlife crisis as he’s thinking of the things he’ll never be able to do. Dave wants Lynette to give the bass to Tom.
At Danielle’s welcome home party, Katherine asks Danielle’s husband Leo about where he went to college--Cornell. Katherine tries to get info out about where Dave went to college and although Dave avoids the question, Edie presses the issue. Dave admits he didn’t go to college as he went to work out of high school, and always feels embarrassed about it. Susan comes to Gaby and tells her she’s sorry. She’s brought alcohol. Susan talks about her problems raising a boy when Mike’s not there. Gabrielle doesn’t think she’s getting the job done even with Carlos there. Susan thinks Gaby’s the strongest person she knows, even as Gaby thinks she’s become a victim, beaten down by life. Susan and Gabrielle toast each other as good mothers. Bree’s dinner party sits down. Benji feels ill and vomits on the floor. Danielle sees there’s meat in the vomit. The guests are disgusted by the vomit. Danielle realizes what Bree did and confronts her mother. Danielle insists on taking Benji and leaving. Later, Bree tells Orson she’s apologized but Danielle’s leaving in the morning. Orson’s mad at Bree for ruining it after just a day. Orson talks about how he thinks it’s Bree’s fault Benji went away from them. She should have fought harder. Bree walks away.
Dave confronts Edie over blindsiding him. She’s sorry. Why did she press him? Edie says Mrs. McCluskey asked about his background. Dave thinks it’s sad…he thinks Mrs. McCluskey is going through dementia, becoming paranoid, like what happened to his own grandmother. Gabrielle tells Andrew she wants her three hundred bucks but Andrew refuses. She gets back into her car and threatens to smash into his car. He gives in, but she wants cash. As Dave rides his bike past the Scavos, he sees Tom getting his new guitar from Lynette.
